It has been way.........too long , since my last post.

Our shopping season at 1820 House was just simply amazing! From the great love showed to us at the Butler Museum Holiday show , the sell out of our candles at Cleveland's Bazaar Bizarre to the simply picked over shelves at our shop . I am just so thankful and impressed at the local support! Thank you .........so much!

It is my goal this year to continue to provide beautiful , unique fragrances , our classic & eco friendly packaging and design as well as add some new fragrant choices that will be must have's the next time you stop in or see us at our next venue.

Currently shows are being scheduled and I'll be certain to update the site with all the details!

Just a reminder!

Among the great things is the fact that it is free!!!!!!! to the public. So if you have no plans for the weekend I suggest checking it out. There will be great items to pick up for the holidays and no doubt will be a good time.

We will be taking our cool flint glass 16 oz jars (as shown in the 8oz size) in 25 different fragrances and quite possibly may offer a special on them for the event!

Cinnamon Clove Bud - a spicy cinnamon clove mix like Bath and Body works fragrance

Plum Cardamom - a slightly sweet plum with a subtle spice note - this is a more delicate fragrance - not heavy.

Gardenia - enough said

Vanilla Blossoms - smells like baby powder with a slight vanilla note.

Black Cherry - very strong tart cherry (not discontinuing but making way for another fruit for the season)

I've finally created a "parfum" for the home and linens that has exceeded all my expectations! It fragrances rooms with just a spray or two and lingers on so long! They are in luxurious frosted glass bottles and currently available in Lavender, Grapefruit, Sea Salt, Vanilla Spice, Colonial Christmas (our signature fraiser fir with a touch of vanilla) Fresh Apple, Coconut Lime & our Aromatherapy essential oil Bliss blend which smells just like Aveda's Shampure.

They are generously sized at 8 fl oz and are 18.00 ea.

They smell amazing , look beautiful and will last a long time. A perfect holiday gift or wonderful way to fragrance your home and linens.

Aromatherapy Essential Oil Blends Now Available

Well, we just finished up at Shaker Woods and debuted our new Aromatherapy candles. They were received so wonderful ( we sold out!) that they will now become a mainstay at the shop. The first two fragrances we offered were Blissful and Harmony. Blissful is a blend of orange, eucalyptus, patchouli and ylang ylang oils and it smells just like Aveda's Shampure brand for those of you familiar with Aveda. Harmony is a blend of geranium, grapefruit, oak moss and cedarwood and has an earthy, slightly floral wonderful smell. These are made with 100% natural essential oils blended in our food grade US domestic soy vegetable wax thus making this our most natural - vegan friendly product.

Also, while we are on the note of natural, I'd like to take a minute to let you know why our product is not Organic. A lot of candle makers are making claims to have organic products which is very......misleading. You could have an organic soybean and organic essential oils but the process that it takes to turn the beans into soywax changes the chemical make-up of the bean thus making it no longer organic. I am trying to make an organic product in these new Aromatherapy Essential oils candles however I will not claim the are organic when they are not 100%. Thus using the term natural.

I hope to add two more blends for the fall - one being a lavender blend and something uplifting.

Our 11 oz glass tumbler will be gift boxed along with a card describing the oils used and a brief description of the benefits 14.95 ea. In additon we will have Aloe & Olive oil glycerine soaps to corrdinate with our Aromatherapy line. 4.00 ea.

This is good stuff!

Shaker Woods 2009

Ahhh. The Shaker Woods festival has begun! Our weekend started off great and ended on one HOT note! It was ..........as always..........wonderful to see all the familiar faces as well as some of the new ones in to sample our line. A heartfelt thanks to all of you and we will see the rest of you the next two weekends! Enjoy the photos!

News for July

News for July is that I am planning some new things for candle purchases and online customers.

There is going to be a new candle fragrance of the month special which I will post Aug through December.

In addition plans are in the works for a "Grand Opening" near the end of Sept., an invitation for a wine tasting as well as something special for the holidays.

In the meantime - I am still plugging along making the numerous candles to take to Shaker Woods for the show in August and hoping that I can get everything done! Another great event for July has been the addition of our custom canvas / sign for over our doorway. It looks amazing! (Thank you - to Bill Yansens from Canvas Corner of East Palestine)

Lastly I have finally put all of the candles on Etsy ( an all handmade marketplace for artisans) to make it easier for all of my out of town customers to purchase them direct and "online". Hopefully it will make the purchase easier and quicker. It will just take some time for me to get the word out to everyone! The direct link to our Etsy Store is in the right hand upper corner.

Great Opening Day

Today went off without a hitch and I was so pleased with the turn out considering I did not advertise (other than the mention to the facebook crowd). Everyone was so nice and it was great to hear the wonderful feedback from everyone. A special thank you to - Carol, Steve, Jess and Scott for the DELISH edible fruit arrangment. That was such a nice surprise! Although our "Grand Opening" won't be scheduled until after our show at Shaker Woods, I hope to have some sort of regular hours and will try my best to keep a variety of candles available. The candle shelves won't be full until after the show. The soaps and oils were a hit today and that was nice as well. Oh - and just because our signs aren't done , doesn't mean we aren't open. Look for the "open" sign in the window and stop in!

The science of the effects fragrance has on the mind & spirit .

Aromachology? It is simple. It is the basic awareness of how a certain fragrance evokes feelings of peace, happiness, bliss, relaxation or bring up memories of something familiar or comforting.

Aromachology vs. Aromatherapy?

The main difference is that Aromatherapy deals in the actual effects that certain botanical ingredients have on the body, such as how peppermint can clear the sinuses or help with mental alertness.

Since Aromatherapy uses only actual essential oils - it can limit the creations you can make scent wise. I chose to make my candles using the Arom aaahhh cology principle. The use of fine quality oils containing essential oils allows me to create a beautifully fragranced candle and help evoke the many senses....in you.
